If you use the free version of the app without creating an account, your app only contacts our server for crash reports (see below). We do not store any other information about you.
If you create an account, we store your email address and assign you a user number that identifies you in our system. The app then also assigns an identifier to the combination of your user account and your device, which helps us keep track of the number of devices on which you use the account. We associate the user number with a record of your subscriptions, purchases, AI credits and referrals, which are managed by our server. In case you make a purchase, we also obtain your country from Paddle (see below), which we collect for a sense of the geographical distribution of our users.
For all users, if the app crashes, a crash report may be sent to the server. This can help us fix problems with the app. It includes the app version and operating system version as well as technical aspects of the app that might allow us to see why the app crashed. The crash report includes an anonymous crash number that allows us to see if two crash reports come from the same user account on the same device. However, the crash report does not include a user number or device identifier or other information that would connect the crash report to our user and device records.
We use external service providers to operate parts of the service:
Both WorkOS (for the account) and Paddle (for subscriptions/purchases) have a Hopping-Words-related record of you that includes your email address and their own customer identifiers assigned to you. Our server connects our user numbers to these customer identifiers so that it can interact with these service providers correctly.
We do not provide OpenAI with information that might identify you, such as your email address or user number, when we send them a summary request. However, the summary requests may include, next to the text to be summarized, words from the line or lines of your target document that precede the planned insertion site. This is transparent in the AI customization window of the AI Control. It is intended to make the requested summary a stylistically good fit. That may sometimes give the AI a basis for concluding that one request could be a follow-up of another request by the same user.
Neither the content of your copies nor AI-generated summaries are stored persistently on our server. The content of your copies is sent to our server only when you request an AI summary and is not retained by us after the request has been processed. An AI-generated summary may, to allow recovery after an interruption, be retained in temporary server memory for up to 60 minutes, after which it is automatically deleted.
Along with the information about purchases, we also store information about refunds and chargebacks. This helps us identify refund or chargeback abuse, as described in our Refund Policy.
We do not sell personal information and we do not use personal information for advertising.
